The way of life here is relaxed and idyllic for those seeking peace and quiet and a country lifestyle.

Although there has been de-population of the area in the last 50 years, the charm, sense of community and family life remains.


The weather is similar to the south of England, a bit warmer in summer and a bit colder in winter.  We are really on the cusp of the maritime climate and the continental climate and are therefore influenced by both.

Normandy is very green and the grass is sometimes referred to as "the oil of Normandy", as it comes out of the ground very quickly.

We are involved with the country life around us much more than we were in the UK as is evident from the photos.  Both of the boys have found interest in avtivities that we could not have imagined for them before...

Ripping wood with a circular saw











Ripping elm wood to make doors and furniture.  The elm formed the floor of the hay loft, but was probably left there to season.  Some pieces were 7.5m long and over 1m wide at the bottom.
Farm work
Driving: Tractors, ATV's, Caterpillar Excavators, JCB's, 20-tonne dumpers, Land Rovers, Volvo XC-90, Cherry Pickers, Fork Lifts.  Can he see over the steering wheel...?
